American Advertising Federation (AAF) student organization is active and successful on the national level. In AAF's National Student Advertising Competition each year, student teams from universities around the country develop professional quality advertising campaigns for a client. Past clients include Yahoo!, Frito-Lay, The New York Times, Toyota, Levi-Strauss, and others. Texas State's AAF team won 1st place at national competition in June 2005, and has advanced from district competition to national competition more than any other university.
Student Organizations
Faculty in the Department of Marketing actively support and advise four student organizations, all of which have successful track records in gaining student involvement, contributing to the university and community, and succeeding at the highest levels of competition. These student organizations are a major component of the department's ongoing pride and tradition.
The American Marketing Association (AMA), American Advertising Federation (AAF), and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) have received national recognition and are poised for continued growth and success. For a complete list of student organizations sponsored through the McCoy College of Business please visit the student organizations website.
Marketing majors, as well as other interested students, are encouraged to become actively engaged in student organizations. Engagement in these groups provides the opportunity for taking leadership roles, learning new ideas, enhancing communication skills, gaining contacts and mentors, learning from experts, and affiliating with a chosen field and profession. To learn more about these opportunities, contact the faculty advisor.
American Advertising Federation
American Marketing Association
The Texas State American Marketing Association is an organization with the mission of advancing the practice and appreciation of marketing for students and professionals who seek to increase their knowledge and skills through national and local programming, while providing a forum for peer networking and resource development.
Students in Free Enterprise
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) is an international nonprofit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders. Participating students form teams on their university campuses and apply business concepts to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. An annual series of regional and national competitions provides a forum for teams to present the results of their projects, and to be evaluated by business leaders serving as judges. In addition to the community aspect of the program, SIFE's leadership and career initiatives create meaningful opportunities for learning and exchange among the participants as well as the placement of students and alumni with companies in search of emerging talent.
